The ideology behind party names

Nice names

Kan un eleve pu get student rights li pu pense .. mari seryer zot pu lager for pu nu droits

My definition for Student rights = legal entitlements of every uom students in accordance with Mauritians Laws.

[Question still pending WHAT ARE THE RIGHTS THEY WILL FIGHT FOR?]

Aster kan pu get Student welfare.. hey ca si seryer zot pu donne nu tous faciliter nu bizin.

My definition of Student Welfare :Students will get all comforts needed in terms of infrastructure ,technology etc …

[Question still pending WHAT DOES WELFARE MEANS ?]

The name and ideology of any party is vey important. It should not be just for namesake.

A party name surely has an impact on VOTERS.

For the moment zis ca 2 parti la so nom mone trouver .. i guess pu ena enkor + pas blier independant candidates.

  6. Vashish Reetoo (student rights) says:

hehe ..i am very pleased to see all these ideas…-;)
according to yusha je cite ” legal entitlements of every uom students in accordance with Mauritians Laws”.

Personally i haven’t done Law studies…but i believe besides the Mauritian Laws, students have certain rights!!!
we can’t just accept quietly all decisions taken by decision makers in the university. furthermore i’ll add that the administration of UOM is the sole decision maker and not the government.

We as students should be able to be part of the decision making…and by ” we students” …i’m not saying only the representatives but all the students ( la masse des etudiants).

I believe you will all be able to know what really we are planning from our presence in classes and also through the different interviews or even debates which i wish will be organised;)

  7. yupri says:

mwa si mo pane fair law .. mais i guess every movement should be in accordance to mtuis laws ..+

yeah u r right govt pas take decisions for uom ..

Par exemple we kant say that for every little issue uom students has the right to go for a manisfestation ..[this is the last resort]

Our rights should be like the supreme law of uom students .

Tushal can confirm on the law side ..i think

  8. yupri says:

I think in this year election there will be a little difference with bloggers covering most aspects of elections .. its like more transparency ..

I hope in this trend will continue in future …

  9. Vashish Reetoo (student rights) says:

It will add that perhaps administration @ uni…does something like a “passive dictature”…
we need approvals for everything..to make press releases etc.

its high time…UOM students regroup as a single force…elections are done to bring the best out of each team ..
so i hope this year we’ll really know what going on!!!

As a candidate, i will try make best to answer to all queries be it online or on the campus…n wish to say ” pa kror apres election mo pou sove”…haha…

  10. yupri says:

  25. Chaya says:

    *Conflicting point of views*

Bon comme Vashish ine dir, nou plein r truv administration uni fer dominer r nou!! we are not involved in any decision ek pourtan nou mem stakeholders pli importan.

Population bane etudiants c a peupre 10,000 et mem sa nou reste trankil lor campus kan gne bane problm.pourkoi?? c parceke nou pa SOLIDAIRE ( changrinan mais c vrai) ek oci parski bane preceden lunion pane reussi regroup bane etudiants ensmble pu 1sel koz (nou DROITs)!!

As a student of UoM, mo truV kil est temp de stopper sa ‘dictatur’ ki administration p fer dpui bien lonten et montre banela ki nou pa bane ‘nimporte’!!

Et c de la ki le nom STUDENT RIGHTS ine ne!! we should say no to dictarioship and fight for ou rights.

  32. Thx a lot to all the bloggers…excellent work…having been in the SU for a year, i have saw how weak we come before the admin concerning certain imporatnt issues..i was a fac rep, so my say was limited but i did try…i even crossed limit with altercation with VC on the issue of increasing fees….Now, i have chosen a team of same perception and will to work as well as raise hue and cry when things are not going per expected….NU ki fer sa vin ene universiter…sans nu, li pa ti pu exister….aster proprietaire pa kav vin locataire….anou fer nu choix pu gagn nu droit!!!!

    cheers..
    BaBA

  33. yupri says:

@Sahir Of course many of us interested with the elections … and the time to go dans chak klass … its over now .. make new stuffs like tushal sayin debated online blogs … WE R IN 2008 uom students …

Un zafaire avant kifair un tas pas ti interesser ek election .. un tas eleve pas pu envi perdi zot letemp .. mais aster with blogs ,, its more easy …. meme si un eleve pane ale uni .. li update to date ..

@ baba itsok no worry bloggers are offerin free platform .. ek i think most of us are neutral .. pu ki concern mwa mo pas ek aukun parti ..

we all waitin for the President presence ..

As u all know we had the Kenny online .. we would be happy to see the actual president

  34. tushal says:

    1)Student Union Election Debate.
In many countries, the SU election debates are organized by the “actual” SU president under the supervision of a group of neutral students.
I will be glad to “supervise” the SU election debate.
In case, none is willing to organize it, then I think that we, bloggers, will “met la main dan la pate” and organize it.
Most probably, it will be nice to have it 1 week before the election and in the auditorium.

    2)Are there campaign rules?
In almost every elections there are campaign rules which must be strictly followed else that particular candidate is not allowed to take part for the election.
In one particular University, if a candidate spends more than x pounds during the campaign week and the returning officer is made aware, that candidate loses his “candidature”.

    3)Who is the returning officer?{if any}

4)How do the candidates intend to promote their parties?

    5)Manifesto?Where is it?

    6)Voting
We, the first year, do not know where to go to vote and how to vote. Will there be a “tutorial” for us?

    7)How is the count done?

    8)Hustings procedure?
Do we have a hustings procedure for the election at UOM?
    {Hustings procedure means question time}

    9)Declaration of results.
    How is this done?

  35. tushal says:

Sorry for pasting the same stuff on 3 places..just that..Some reply here..some are in the other posts..LoL

  36. tushal says:

Instead of going to each and every class..Why not to organize a SU election debate in the auditorium like I have discussed in my blog.

  37. yupri says:

Goin to each class la pu ki zot explik zot manifesto campaign ca

  38. tushal says:

b..dan place zot ale dan each class..kifer pa met li dan debate la meme?LoL..

  39. Vashish Reetoo (student rights) says:

@tushal : as for debate hosted by the Actual president…li pou kouma dir Navin p organise n debat;)…so impartiality will be an issue…
debates have been organised before but onli for a limited audience..ti biizn invitation pwal get ha;)…we studetnts pa ti got access to it…i think lor 6000 zelevs onli 50 ti labas… (unconfirmed figures)
Manifesto for the students rights party will be out by next week….
apres….returning officer is appointed by the commision electoral …so i presume same rules are applied as in general elections.

  40. yupri says:

A debate will be nice .. we are at uni and we are mature …. so if a debate will be organised pu ena expectation pas pu ena vilain .. a debate in english

  41. Avish says:

Wai thats a good point… si pu fer un debate oci… be bizin fer debat la coment dimoun civilize…. paski mwena impression ki certain pu amen ban bachara pu leve dezord dan debates…

So the debates should be done in oditorium…but only student showing student pass and travel pass of uom will get access!!

There should also be security and some elctoral staffs so that rules for teh debated are respected. Such as only 5 minutes to reply to something etc etc…

    STUDENT UNION UNDER ATTACK!!!

  42. yupri says:

    Yes avish you are right

For a civilized debate i would expect

    1-good english or french
2-dressing code suitand tie for guys and all pas jean dechirer
    3-good security
4-why not invite the press radio etc etc [pkoi pas ]
    5-audience can ask questions

  43. Vashish Reetoo (student rights) says:

Lol..mo daccord…;)…mai mo ena pwal fer coude bon linges la..hehe;)

Eski vremen li dress code li important??
as a candidate mo p ask ha kestion la…??

i think that whats the use of habille classik for 2 weeks..kan apre pou remet what we want??eski pa p couyonne bane zeleves..p show soi disant nu serieux??

  44. yupri says:

hmm.. i was just sugesting .. mais i really think that si ena un debate before whole campus dressing code important .. zot pu supposer represente nu ..

  45. Vashish Reetoo (student rights) says:

hmm yeah sa mo fully agree!! mai campaigning on campus…with pantalon clasique ek tie…lol..g mes reserves…!!

Mai si bloggers think its important…haha..mo ale cire mo souliers

  46. yupri says:

mais non zis pu debate la ki mo p dire .. dressing code..

si zot fair campaign lor zot 31 everyday lor campus ..normal li pas pu pratik .

  47. Avish says:

No infact….kan to ferr campaign c ok to habille normal casual…

Anyway ena unta candidat ki fer unta zest coment “fam” (sorry no intention to hurt ladies-zist un dialog sa) …wai zot pu habiy sipaki met bel bel cravat zoli linge…tou sa…. zist pu atir lattention fam lor campus et gagne vote!!!!

My opinion is that there is no need pu habile sipakikalite pu fer campaign….c plan 2 travail….ek ambition ki pli important!!!

Mais aster pu debates la…sa li pu devant un grand nombe etudiant….et possib journalist tou… alor la li impe important habile bien….pa necessair met costume aster… habile bien…. bon c un chemiz et panmtalon et soulier prop ek un zoli cravat lol…

  55. yupri says:

@ tushal and chaya hey thxs …..

    @ still waitin the president

  56. tushal says:

How much of human life is lost in waiting?

Waiting is a trap. There will always be reasons to wait. The truth is, there are only two things in life, reasons and results, and reasons simply don’t count.”

  57. Chaya says:

    Tushal being philosophic ;)

Btw kuma dir tou optimism and patience ki mo ti ena pu attane la Presidente, p convert into pessimism and impatience…

  58. tushal says:

Are you thinking what I’m thinking that I think that you’re thinking I’m thinking because if you think that I think what I think I’m thinking then we’ve got a problem?

  59. Chaya says:

    @ Tushal: *confused*

  60. tushal says:

People who have no faults are terrible; there is no way of taking advantage of them.

  61. Avish says:

Tushal is becoming a poet :D

  62. yupri says:

Tushal nu si nu p wait president meme .. mais tone commence vin poet :)

  63. tushal says:

When I’m feeling down, I like to whistle. It makes the neighbor’s dog run to the end of his chain and gag himself.

@yusha–>pa poet..mais pluto mo pe turn sarcastic now..

  64. Shah says:

FUCK! – Friends United Contecting Khol

(weird, online dictionaries don’t feature the word contect which means to cover)

(and why knol? – because it’s mascara and having the goths and hard rock wannabes as pro-voters is always a plus)

So, that would have been the name of my party had I been participating. FUCK FTW! And it means something and isn’t common.

Vote FUCK! Be a FUCK voter. Oh, it sounds naughty. I’m so high right now. These markers are so good. *sniff*

  65. Tushal says:

@Shah–>i think I will be having a good weekend afterall..
